School is Back!

New Post on Back to School Health for 2018!

Back to School Tips:

Whether you are a student or not, the fall can often signal a new start. It’s a great time to reset, refocus and re-establish new, healthy habits for you and your family. Here are some healthy tips:

1. Remember breakfast. Research suggests that those who eat breakfast consume more nutrients and have lower BMIs (body mass index) than those who don’t.

2. Get to bed early. Over time, sleep loss can contribute to health problems such as weight gain, high blood pressure, and a decrease in the immune system’s power.

3. Turn off the television. Research also suggests that watching excessive television increases the risk for diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and attention problems and weight gain in children.

4. Get regular exercise. Building fitness into a daily routine will help keep you and your family healthy and energized.

Establishing new routines in September will help you and your family have a successful school year. If you need help initiating some of these recommendations, see your provider.
